Bahrain’s state firm Bapco has reportedly invited bids for the expansion and upgrading of its Sitra refinery. The project involves raising crude distillation capacity from 267,000 b/d to 360,000 b/d and installing a number of upgrading units to improve products quality.
Bids are required in early October with a view to awarding the engineering, procurement and construction contract in the first half of 2017, according to Reuters. The news agency cited industry sources as estimating the cost of the project at about $5bn.
The report lists consortia planning to submit bids as: Japan’s JGC and Korea’s GS; France’s Technip, Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas and Korea’s Samsung Engineering; US firm Fluor with Korea’s Hyundai E&C and Daewoo E&C; and US firm CB&I with UK’s Petrofac.
