Bahraini state firm Bapco, operator of the country’s sole Sitra refinery announced on 23 May the formation of the Bahrain Gasoline Blending (BGB) joint venture with UK road fuels supplier Greenergy, to establish a regional gasoline blending hub at the plant.
Greenergy says BGB will begin blending gasoline at Sitra using blend components from the Sitra refinery and also purchased from third parties. Finished gasoline will be sold to Bapco and to customers “in the region and further afield.” Sitra produced 18,600 b/d of gasoline in 2015, just 7% of the plant’s total output (see charts) though this is set for a major hike with the completion of refinery expansion and upgrading by 2020 (see main story).
