While its core assets are undoubtedly in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, MENA-focused DNO has set its sights on boosting its production and exploration activities at some of its other regional projects, first and foremost in Oman and Tunisia.
Speaking on 20 August, DNO Executive Chairman Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani said DNO is looking at the possibility of drilling a new development well at its offshore West Bukha field in Block 8 as part of a $15mn offshore exploration program aimed at increasing oil and gas output from the field. Mr Mossavar-Rahmani says DNO is thinking of bringing partners into that project.
This, along with the nearby Bukha field, represent the sultanate’s only producing offshore acreage, and DNO’s sole producing asset in Oman. Combined output from the two fields averaged 9,076 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) in 2Q 2015, down from 15,678 boe/d in 2014.
