Jordan, which joined the club of LNG importers in May this year, is taking advantage of weaker LNG spot prices for first deliveries to its Golar Eskimo floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) at the Red Sea port of Aqaba. But competition with oil products and the shifting trends in the LNG industry cast doubt over Jordan’s longer-term LNG options.
CHEAP SPOT LNG…
The FSRU is expected to take delivery of its last commissioning cargo this month from Shell, MEES understands. Jordan’s National Electric Power Company (Nepco) remains on the lookout for additional cheap supplies on the short-term market.
