Abu Dhabi’s Takreer is ramping up Ruwais output, taking UAE refining capacity to 1.1mn b/d.
Abu Dhabi’s state-owned refiner Takreer has begun running crude through the crude distillation unit (CDU) at its Ruwais Expansion project, which it has built alongside an existing refinery. The company has also started up a hydrotreater and has begun production of distillates.
This month Takreer is also due to start up the plant’s residue fluid catalytic cracking (RFCC) unit – one of the world’s largest at 127,000 b/d – to enable the processing of residual oil from the CDU and the production of gasoline.
