Qatar Petroleum And ExxonMobil Move Closer To US LNG Exports

Qatar Petroleum International (QPI) and ExxonMobil are growing confident that their planned 15.6mn tons/year Golden Pass LNG export facility in Texas will get the nod from US authorities.

Golden Pass Products, a joint venture between QPI (70%) and ExxonMobil (30%), has awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the 15.6mn tons/year export project to Japan’s Chiyoda Corporation and its US partner, CB&I.

The two engineering firms completed pre-FEED work earlier this year. CB&I had previously carried out the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on the existing LNG import facilities at Golden Pass; Chiyoda constructed 12 of Qatar’s liquefaction trains.
