Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has won a contract to build tanks and piping for a 7,500 b/d modular refinery to be built in Fujairah by local firm Ecomar.
Modular refineries are normally installed in remote locations, but Ecomar is developing one at the Port of Fujairah to process ‘tanker slops’ produced when vessels visiting the port clean out their tanks. At a time of tightening maritime pollution regulations it will turn a waste liquid into saleable oil products.
While the refinery will be small, it will have some upgrading capacity. Facilities will include 19 tanks totaling 91,000 cu ms (572,000 barrels) to store tanker slops, naphtha, diesel, gasoil, kerosene, fuel oil and water. (CONTINUED - 176 WORDS)
