Jordan Solar Gets $100Mn Boost

The EBRD and French development institution Proparco are each lending Jordan $50mn to build three solar PV plants at Ma’an in the south of the country. This takes recent regional solar loans to $670mn.

The three plants will have a combined 40MW capacity and will be built by Norway’s Scatec Solar, with local partners European Jordanian Renewable Energy Projects, Greenland Alternative Energy and Quest Energy Investments.

Completion of the three plants is scheduled for 2H 2015. They are expected to deliver around 105 GWh of electricity each year, to be sold to the National Electric Power Company (Nepco) under a 20-year deal.
