The UAE is investing in the expansion of its LNG receiving capacity in Fujairah and Dubai as it tries to keep up with high demand for energy. In Dubai, an existing Floating Storage and Regasification Unit may become a permanent fixture.
Although Abu Dhabi, by far the biggest oil producer of the seven emirates that make up the UAE federation, is an LNG exporter, it has had to resort to imports of pipeline gas from Qatar to satisfy domestic demand over the last decade.
