Output from KNPC’s three refineries was halted by a 22 January power outage; two plants have yet to be restored to full capacity. While the company struggled to repair aging electricity supply equipment and restart refinery units, it maintained local products supplies and exports from stocks.

Kuwait’s refineries – 466,000 b/d Mina al-Ahmadi, 270,000 b/d Mina ‘Abd Allah and 200,000 b/d Shuaiba – are built closely together. Mina ‘Abd Allah and Shuaiba are on either side of a road to Shuaiba port. Mina al-Ahmadi was built 2km away to the northwest. They share power infrastructure installed 25 years ago.
