Egyptian conglomerate Orascom’s 1.3mn tons/year Egyptian urea plant is “almost idle” due to a severe shortage of gas feedstock. The Egyptian Fertilizers Company (EFC) plant at Ain Sukhna on the Red Sea near the southern end of the Suez Canal is located next to the fertilizer plant of Egyptian Basic Industries Corp. EFC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Orascom Construction Industries (OCI).
