Yemen’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy on 11 November signed initial agreements with China National Corporation for Overseas Economic Cooperation (CCOEC) for the construction of three gas-fired power plants, Yemen’s state-owned SABA news agency has reported.

The project scope includes the three plants, each with a generating capacity of between 400-750mw, in the regions of Shabwa, Dhamar and al-Hudaida, in the east of the country; transmission stations; and a feeder pipeline to transport natural gas from the Safer-operated Block 18 to the plants.
