Saudi Arabia’s installed renewable energy capacity has increased to 18.8GW, the Ministry of Energy stated this week. That represents a 1GW increase from early July (MEES, 10 July), and leaves the kingdom just 1.2GW short of its end-2026 target of 20GW. The increase appears to have come through the part-connection of the 1.5GW Al-Khushaybi solar PV plant. Other plants due online this year are the 400MW Al Henakiyah 2 and 300MW Rabigh 2 solar PV plants.
