On 30 July, Cyprus’ state gas infrastructure company ETYFA launched a tender to complete the country’s stalled Vasilikos LNG import terminal. It marks the first major procurement milestone since the government terminated the original engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with the Chinese-led CMC consortium in July 2024 (MEES, 2 August 2024).

The tender covers the remaining onshore and offshore works required to complete the import terminal and is valued at an estimated €180mn ($207mn). ETYFA has opted for a restricted procedure, requiring contractors to prequalify before submitting technical and financial bids, with awards to be based on the best price-quality ratio rather than the lowest offer.
