On 16 July, the energy ministers of Cyprus and Lebanon confirmed their agreement on the Terms of Reference (ToR) and the launch of a World Bank-supported prefeasibility assessment of an electricity interconnection between Cyprus and Lebanon.

The announcement follows the ratification of their maritime boundary last November, during  Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides’ visit to Beirut. During the visit, Mr Christodoulides announced “that today Cyprus and Lebanon have jointly approached the World Bank to prepare a feasibility study for this project” (MEES, 28 November 2025).  (CONTINUED - 228 WORDS)
