French major TotalEnergies signed an MoU with Egyptian state gas firm EGAS on 13 May, “to strengthen technical cooperation on deep offshore exploration in the North-West Mediterranean area of Egypt,” the firm’s Egypt MD Pascal Breant posted on LinkedIn.
The giant block, which has not been publicly named, is located to the north of the North Ras Kanayis block, which Total relinquished in 2024 after opting against further exploration (MEES, 1 May). Total will study the new block for two years before deciding whether to proceed to a concession agreement, according to a source at Egypt’s petroleum ministry. (CONTINUED - 341 WORDS)
