Abu Dhabi petrochemicals company Borouge’s facilities at Ruwais were damaged by debris from an intercepted drone on 5 April, the company confirmed. The debris caused a number of fires, which were all brought under control swiftly, but the company said that production in the affected areas was suspended while damage assessment and repairs were carried out. The attack came shortly after Abu Dhabi’s XRG and Austria’s OMV completed the merger of Borouge, Borealis and Nova Chemicals (MEES, 3 April).

In a statement on the Abu Dhabi Exchange (ADX), Borouge said that the company was still able to export products despite the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. A “significant proportion” was exported via alternative routes, while excess volumes were placed in storage. (CONTINUED - 123 WORDS)
