Oman’s MB Petroleum Services Company (MBPS) has been awarded a three-rig contract by Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) under its latest tender, says CEO Salim al-Harthy. The KD39mn ($128mn) award is part of a KD295mn ($960mn) KOC tender for 24 rigs. MBPS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mohamed Barwani LLC, part of the billion-dollar Barwani family conglomerate in Oman, but will soon be majority owned by Abu Dhabi’s Adnoc Drilling. The Emirati firm last year reached a “definite agreement” to acquire 80% of MBPS, with an option to buy the remaining 20% after three years (MEES, 7 November 2025).

The MBPS purchase is part of Adnoc Drillings’ international expansion strategy. Prior to this latest deal, MBPS had 13 rigs in Oman, four in Kuwait, and another four in Bahrain. (CONTINUED - 127 WORDS)
