Oman state offtaker Nama Power and Water Procurement (Nama PWP) signed a development agreement with a consortium led by Abu Dhabi state renewables firm Masdar for the 500MW Ibri III solar plant and 100MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), which is due online in 1Q 2027. BESS has emerged as a major pillar of power plans in the Gulf this year, and this marks the first such plan for development in Oman.
Speaking at the signing of the deal, Energy Minister Salim al-Aufi says “Oman is steadily advancing towards a sustainable future, built on energy diversification, enhanced energy security, strengthened economic competitiveness, and the consolidation of Oman’s position as a regional hub for clean energy.” (CONTINUED - 181 WORDS)
