The upcoming Opec Seminar in Vienna on 9-10 July represents an increasingly rare opportunity for Opec ministers to gather in person. With most ministerial meetings taking place remotely since the Covid-19 pandemic, opportunities for delegations from all 12 member countries to meet are now few and far between. Opec member state officials will be joined at the Seminar by a host of senior executives from across the industry, offering plenty of scope for bilateral discussions and negotiations.

The last Opec Seminar was held in July 2023, with the theme of “Towards a Sustainable and Inclusive Energy Transition.” The theme for this year’s event is “Charting pathways together: the future of global energy,” with the change in emphasis reflecting the recent slowdown in the energy transition and the renewed focus on energy security and affordability.
