Ministers from the Opec+ Group of Eight will meet on 5 October to set production levels for November. When they met last month, they agreed to start unwinding 1.65mn b/d of voluntary production cuts, with a 137,000 b/d taper for October (MEES, 12 September). Another increase is widely expected to be agreed on this time, although Opec firmly pushed back against media reports that the group was planning to further accelerate the tapering. The Secretariat issued a statement rejecting reports of plans “to increase production by 500 kb/d. These claims are wholly inaccurate and misleading…discussions among the relevant Ministers concerning the upcoming meeting have not yet commenced.”
