Libya’s Tripoli PM has officially named Masoud Suleiman as chairman of NOC, according to a government decree cited by local media. Mr Suleiman had been the state firm’s acting chief since January (MEES, 31 January), succeeding Farhat Bengdara, who had resigned on “medical grounds,” though his departure at the time was seen as linked to Mr Suleiman’s anti-corruption drive amid political rivalries over the leadership of NOC (MEES, 7 February). Under Mr Suleiman, Libya has also launched its first oil and gas bid round in nearly two decades (MEES, 11 April), stepping up efforts to lure back foreign investments to revive the country’s upstream sector (MEES, 5 September).
