The UAE’s Fujairah bunkering and storage hub is saturated with high sulfur fuel oil (HSFO) according to market sources. HSFO is widely used at Fujairah for bunkering vessels fitted with scrubbers to remove sulfur from the fuel.

“A lot of people are now bringing HSFO cargoes into Fujairah and reselling to bunker suppliers. It’s too saturated,” says one industry source. “Khor Fakkan is [saturated], so I would not be surprised if Fujairah is as well,” says another, referencing the smaller bunkering terminal 15km north of the Port of Fujairah.
