With its own output in decline, Egypt is growing ever more reliant on gas imports from Israel, with volumes hitting 938mn cfd, a third straight record, for May (see chart). Although volumes dipped to 920mn cfd for June, MEES sources indicate they remain up more than 200mn cfd year-on-year and have consistently topped 800 mn cfd since last October’s start-up of Israel’s third gas field, 1.2tcf Karish.
