UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan appointed his son Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed as Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi on 29 March. The appointment solidifies Abu Dhabi’s succession process nearly a year after Sheikh Mohamed succeeded his brother to the post last year (MEES, 13 May 2022), and marks the beginning of the transition to the next generation. At the same time, President Mohamed appointed his brothers Sheikh Tahnoon and Sheikh Hazza as deputy rulers of Abu Dhabi and another brother, Sheikh Mansour as Vice President of the UAE alongside the incumbent VP, Ruler of Dubai and UAE Prime Minister Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Sheikh Mansour is married to a daughter of the Ruler of Dubai.
