Spain’s Técnicas Reunidas says it is hopeful of striking a deal with Algerian state firm Sonatrach that would enable it and Korean partner Samsung Engineering to move forward on plans for a new 5mn t/y (110,000 b/d) refinery at Algeria’s inland oil hub of Hassi Messaoud (see map, MEES, 24 November).
The two firms in early 2022 were awarded a $3.7bn EPC contract for the project (MEES, 10 January 2022) which subsequently stalled as Sonatrach sought to re-negotiate terms (MEES, 26 May). (CONTINUED - 250 WORDS)
