Kuwait and Saudi Arabia on 13 April reaffirmed their plans for a $7bn development of the Dorra gas field, which is located in the offshore portion of the shared Partitioned Neutral Zone (PNZ), following criticism from Iran. Development of the field has never gotten off the ground due to previous disagreements between Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, and Iran’s claims that the field extends into its waters, where it is known as Arash (see map).

Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have reiterated their plans to develop the Dorra gas field despite opposition from Iran, which claims a portion of the field. The duo have called on Iran to enter into talks over finalizing the Kuwait-Iran maritime boundary.
