The five international oil supermajors all saw another quarter of record or near-record profits in Q3.

ExxonMobil’s Q3 net profit of $19.66bn was an all-time high and by some distance the highest of the five, though less than half Saudi Aramco’s $42.4bn figure (MEES, 4 November). BP’s Q3 underlying profit of $8.2bn was second only to Q2’s $8.5bn as the highest since 2008. TotalEnergies posted profits of $9.9bn, whilst Chevron’s $11.2bn and Shell’s $9.5bn were both the second highest figures ever, with Shell having posted its all-time high figure the previous quarter.
