Qatar belatedly started up the long-delayed 1.4bn cfd Barzan gas project (QP 93%, ExxonMobil, 7%) last year (MEES, 9 July). The project supplies gas to the domestic market, and Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida al-Kaabi told reporters in Dubai this week that Barzan is now producing at full capacity.

The project was years overdue, in large part because of corrosion problems with the pipelines connecting the offshore wells to the onshore processing facilities. Mr Kaabi says that now “it’s going very smoothly.” (CONTINUED - 83 WORDS)
