Gazprom Neft, the oil-focused subsidiary of Russia’s state gas giant, announced on 19 April that it has brought online a fourth well at the Sarkala field in Iraqi Kurdistan. Gazprom Neft says output at Sarqala (Gazprom Neft 40%op, Western Zagros 40%, KRG 20%) increased by 33% with the start-up of Sarqala-4, and is now in excess of 33,000 b/d, in line with earlier expectations (MEES, 27 November 2020).

Vadim Yakovlev, Deputy Director for E&P, said “one of the features of the field is abnormally high pressure in the reservoir… at Sarqala we have done a lot of field research, drilled four wells and increased production. The plans include further geological assessment, including of data from Sarqala-4. Based on the results we will make a decision on the next stage of the production program.” (CONTINUED - 129 WORDS)
