US major ExxonMobil is making final preparations ahead of spudding a planned well on Cyprus’ offshore Block 10 in late November or early December. It has contracted the Stena Forth drillship to drill an appraisal well at 2019’s 5-8tcf Glaucus discovery (MEES, 1 March 2019). Exxon (60%op) and partner QP (40%) then have the option of drilling a second well, a wildcat, on the same block.

The Stena Forth is set for a busy few months in the region. It is currently conducting decommissioning work for Chevron around 30km off the southern Israeli port of Ashkelon related to the four former production wells at the depleted Mari B and Noa fields where output ceased in 2019.
