Italy’s Eni is currently drilling the Nidoco NW-1 DIR exploration well in the Abu Madi West concession in the shallow offshore Nile Delta, where the firm’s 1bn cfd Nooros field is situated. The El Qaher II jack-up rig is currently in place 5km off the Egyptian coast.
Eni flagged that it would be drilling the well following its most recent discovery, Bashrush, which was drilled by the El Qaher I rig, and is located in the adjacent North El Hammad block which the firm operates with a 37.5% stake (MEES, 3 July).
