India imported 4.80mn b/d of crude in January, the second highest volumes ever after January 2019’s 5.05mn b/d. January is typically a bumper month for India crude imports and last month saw it take 3.24mn b/d from the Middle East, the third highest on record after the two previous Januarys.

Iraq was India’s top supplier with a bumper 1.35mn b/d, the second highest on record and the equivalent of 40% of Iraq’s exports for the month (MEES 7 February). Iraq was also India’s top supplier, ahead of Saudi Arabia, for both 2018 and 2019 (MEES, 2 February). Saudi Arabia was again number two for January, with 919,000 b/d; 624,000 b/d came from number three the UAE.  (CONTINUED - 233 WORDS)
