Eni Strikes Gas At Nour

Italian firm Eni announced on 14 March it has discovered gas at the Nour exploration prospect on the North Sinai offshore block 50km north of the Sinai Peninsula.

Drilling was slow going. The Nour-1 wildcat spudded in late September but encountered technical complications, MEES understands.

The well, in 295ms water depth, reached a total depth of 5,914ms and found “33 meters of gross sandstone pay with good petrophysical properties and an estimated gas column of 90 meters in the Tineh formation of Oligocene age,” Eni says. The firm was unable to conduct a production test but “intense and accurate data acquisition” took place, it adds. (CONTINUED - 227 WORDS)
