With Benban Solar Park having all awarded projects operating (MEES, 1 November), Egypt is considering further solar projects including the country’s first concentrated solar power (CSP) plants. CSP technologies incorporate energy storage to enable 24-hour electricity supply, unlike conventional solar photovoltaic (PV).

Local solar firm Smart Energy Solutions (SES) is working with the Ministry of Military Production to identify potential CSP manufacturing partners. SES chairman Osama Kamal says the plan is to form a partnership with one of the firms to manufacture CSP units in Egyptian military factories, according to local news reports. (CONTINUED - 220 WORDS)
