OCI and Adnoc announced on 30 September the completion of their Fertiglobe fertilizer joint venture, which the companies say is the Mena region’s largest fertilizer producer with 5mn t/y of urea and 1.5mn t/y of merchant ammonia capacity. The JV combines the Mena regional business of OCI with Adnoc’s former fertilizers subsidiary. Fertiglobe is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and listed on the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) exchange.

The JV will operate the EFC and EBIC plants at Ain Sukhna in Egypt and the Sorfert plant at Arzew in Algeria, which were all previously operated by OCI, as well as the Fertil-1 and Fertil-2 plants at Ruwais in Abu Dhabi, previously run by Adnoc Fertilizers. The partners say Fertiglobe has “a robust storage and distribution infrastructure with access to key ports on the Mediterranean, Red Sea and Arabian Gulf” (MEES, 21 June). (CONTINUED - 144 WORDS)
