The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said this week that it now expects to receive in late January or early February the penultimate $2bn tranche of the $12bn IMF loan it agreed in late 2016. This CBE was expecting to receive the $2bn in December, but disbursement was allegedly delayed by the IMF after Egypt postponed the liberalization of gasoline prices from December 2018 to April (MEES, 11 January).
