Algerian gas output will see a second straight year of decline this year with the company’s key expansion project, 4.5bcm/y Touat led by private equity firm Neptune Energy pushed back to 2019.

The country’s sales gas production fell marginally to 94.5bcm for 2017 despite the start-up of the 2.9bcm/y Reggane North led by Repsol late in the year (MEES, 22 December 2017), as gains were more than cancelled out by underlying decline at the country’s ageing workhorse field Hassi R’Mel.
