Good news just keeps coming from Peshkabir field in Tawke license. Norwegian operator DNO (75%) announced in late July that the field had exceeded its 30,000 b/d 3Q target and was producing 35,000 b/d (MEES, 3 August). The firm now says it is targeting 50,000 b/d by the end of the year.

The output increase will come from two new wells—Peshkabir-6 and Peshkabir-7— which were completed earlier this month and set to undergo test production for “several weeks.” And the firm is not stopping there. Two more wells are set to be spudded at the 25-28° API field: Peshkabir-8 by the end of August whilst Peshkabir-9 will be drilled in October. Peshkabir, which lies in the same license as the 88,000 b/d Tawke field (see map), is quickly becoming Iraqi Kurdistan’s biggest surprise asset and a boon for operator DNO. (CONTINUED - 741 WORDS)
