Oil and gas licensing rounds are all the rage in the UAE, with Sharjah this week announcing its debut in the field. It is following in the footsteps of the UAE’s dominant player Abu Dhabi, and its smaller neighbor Ras al-Khaimah (RAK), which both opened bid rounds earlier in the year.

The Sharjah Petroleum Council (SPC) announced its first hydrocarbon licensing round on 25 June, open with immediate effect. The licensing round will be overseen by the Sharjah National Oil Company (SNOC), which is offering companies 30-year licenses, extendable by a further 10 years. (CONTINUED - 752 WORDS)
