Emboldened by the success of its debut licensing round launched in April, Adnoc is considering issuing more exploration blocks in 2019.
Adnoc offered six blocks – four onshore and two offshore – in April and says that it has received multiple bids for all of them ( MEES, 16 November and MEES, 13 April ). Adnoc upstream chief Abdulmunim al-Kindy told the annual Adipec conference in Abu Dhabi on 13 November that “hopefully next year we will follow up with five or six blocks, completing the whole area.”
The 2018 licensing round closed last month and Adnoc CEO Sultan al-Jaber says it “attracted an overwhelming response from 39 bidding parties from all over the world” ( MEES, 12 October ). This included most of the largest global oil and gas firms. (CONTINUED - 408 WORDS)
