ExxonMobil has awarded Schlumberger a 42-month integrated drilling services (IDS) contract to drill 30 wells at the 450,000 b/d West Qurna-1 oil field (operator Exxon 32.7%, CNPC 32.7%, Itochu 19.6%, Pertamina 10%, Oil Exploration CO 5%), according to the services giant’s 3Q results (MEES, 26 October).

Schlumberger is no stranger to WQ-1 – Iraq’s second largest field behind BP’s 1.5mn b/d Rumaila field – as the firm was contracted to drill 10 wells there in 2010 following the Exxon-led consortium’s takeover of the field (MEES, 6 December 2010). (CONTINUED - 113 WORDS)
