Atrush Set For Start-Up

After several years of delays and setbacks, the KRG’s Atrush Field, operated by Abu Dhabi state firm Taqa, is expected to begin oil production in a matter of weeks.

Taqa’s Toronto-listed partner Shamaran is confident the finishing touches will be provided to a crucial pipeline link by the end of June, handing a much-needed boost to Iraqi Kurdistan after two years characterized by production declines, payment concerns and relinquishments.

Shamaran in its Q1 results, issued 12 May, said it expects first oil by end-June and CEO Chris Bruijnzeels told MEES in March that it can hit full Phase I output of 30,000 b/d of medium 25-27°API oil within one month of this (MEES, 12 March). (CONTINUED - 372 WORDS)
