The Sadara JV of Saudi state giant Aramco and US petrochemicals producer Dow has started up its fourth and final polyethylene unit at Jubail on the Gulf coast, completing the olefins and polyolefins section of its $20bn, 3.2mn tons/year capacity petchems complex.

The 350,000 t/y low density polyethylene (LDPE) unit is one of a number of plants processing ethylene from Sadara’s 1.9mn t/y cracker. Two 375,000 b/d linear low density polyethylene units were completed in late 2015 and mid-2016, ahead of the start-up of the cracker in August 2016. (CONTINUED - 628 WORDS)
