Aid For Egypt, Iraq & Jordan

International donors have leapt to the aid of Egypt, Iraq and Jordan this month by announcing fresh aid packages, some as recently as this week, to the tune of $4.453bn.

In Egypt the World Bank announced this week that it was releasing the second tranche of $1bn from the $3bn loan intended to support job creation, spur growth and increase competitiveness of the country’s business institutions.

The African Development Bank is also disbursing the second tranche of $500bn from the $1.5bn loan to Egypt, the first tranche of which was paid twelve months ago. Egypt also took a $125mn grant from the EU to support small enterprises, develop sustainable infrastructure and create employment opportunities for the youth. (CONTINUED - 387 WORDS)
