Five years ago the KRG was a global hotspot for oil and gas exploration. It tempted in some of the world’s largest IOCs. But activity at their assets has been minimal, with Gazprom Neft the only producing major in the region. More recently, some of the majors’ blocks have been relinquished, with Total planning a complete departure. MEES surveys the state of play.
• Chevron is preparing to submit a field development plan (FDP) for its Sarta block to the south east of Gulf Keystone’s 35,000 b/d Shaikan (MEES, 9 December). Chevron operates with 60%; Austria’s OMV has 15%, and the KRG its customary 25%. (CONTINUED - 617 WORDS)
