Sadara Chemical Company has signed an agreement to supply Saudi plastics convertor E A Juffali and Brothers with methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) for a new polyurethanes plant to be built in the PlasChem industrial park alongside the Sadara petrochemicals complex.
Juffali plans to start up a new plant in PlasChem in the first half of 2017. Sadara says the new Juffali facility will consist of several manufacturing plants producing specialty chemicals for use within the kingdom. Some units will be fed directly by Sadara, others will receive raw materials from different suppliers.
“The Juffali MDI project will cater to the local demand for polyurethanes in industries such as construction, furniture, special flooring for sport facilities and electrical appliances, all of which will benefit from locally supplied MDI for the first time,” says Muhammad al-Azzaz, Sadara’s Value Park director.
