Dow Eyes Sadara Membranes Plant

The Sadara Basic Services Company subsidiary of the Sadara petrochemicals JV between Saudi Aramco and Dow will lease a 43,000 m2 site within the Sadara complex to Dow for the US chemicals firm to build a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane plant with capacity to produce 350,000 units/year. Dow is a leading manufacturer of polyamide RO membranes.

The agreement marks the second deal for a plant to utilize petrochemical feedstock from the Sadara complex, under construction in Jubail Industry City 2. Last month Sadara signed a deal to supply feedstock to a JV of US oilfield services firms Halliburton and Saudi conglomerate Taqa, which will process ethylene oxide and propylene oxide to manufacture oil field chemicals.
