US-firm Noble and its Israeli partner Delek on 11 June submitted its development plan for the 5 tcf Aphrodite field, Cyprus’ only offshore natural gas discovery to-date. This came just days after Cyprus’ Energy Ministry declared the field commercial on 7 June.
“The Development and Production Plan is expected to include the Licensees’ proposal with regard to the method and the timeline for development and production, as well as the planning for the sales and marketing of the hydrocarbons produced,” a Ministry statement said.
MEES understands that the development plan takes the form of an 800mn cfd floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit that would send Cypriot gas to regional markets via pipeline. However, the pipeline itself is a crucial omission: any potential customer would have to pay for it, Noble has said.
