Aramco Awards Final Big Jazan Contract; Yasref Ramp-Up Boosts Light Products

Award of the world’s largest air separation unit clears the way for building the Jazan refinery and its linked power plant. Meanwhile, the recently completed Yasref refinery is pushing Saudi products output to new peaks.

Saudi Aramco has awarded US firm Air Products and Saudi company ACWA Holding a contract to build the world’s largest industrial gas complex. This will be a key unit in an integrated refinery and power plant being built at Jazan in Saudi Arabia’s underdeveloped southwest region.

Air Products chairman Seifi Ghasemi says the plant is due for completion in late 2018 and will cost a total $2.1bn, including project financing charges. It will provide 75,000 tons/day of gases – 20,000 t/d oxygen and 55,000 t/d nitrogen – under a 20-year build-own-operate contract with Air Products (25%) and ACWA (75%). (CONTINUED - 704 WORDS)
